REMINDER: LFN Staff Survey of the Community Due July 10th

Brandon Wick

LFN Community,

In order to get a better sense for the community and how we could do our jobs better, we've pulled together a short LFN Staff Survey of the Community. We believe that the TSCs for each Project are in the best position to determine which lists they feel are most appropriate for distribution; so if there are additional lists which you believe should be included for your Project, please let us know.

The anonymous survey is 21 questions and should take about 5-10 minutes to complete. Please complete the survey by July 10th. Thank you for helping us improve LFN.

Hello Randy,

This is Le Ma from BII, the organizer of NCDC. Thanks for your great help to coordinate the Tungsten Fabric workshop. Besides, I know you are also the founding member of OpenStack, we will have OpenStack meetup and StarlingX tutorial in this event. Will you come to this conference?

We communicate with many people in this industry and many Chinese LFN and LF Edge contributors are highly interested in these two projects. It will be our great honor to invite you to attend this conference and join the LFN and LF Edge developer events.

Look forward to your support and participation. Please let me know if you have any suggestion about this event.

Best regards

Le Ma

Re: CodiLime's talk proposals

VM (Vicky) Brasseur <vmb@...>

Hey there, Marta. Please email the marketing@ mailing list for stuff like this. That way others will be able to chime in as well.

Thank you for proposing TF talks! That's really great and will help to get the word out about TF and its great features.

We don't have any influence over the selection committees. Once a talk is proposed, there's nothing that we can do to improve the chances of it getting selected. What we *can* do is review the talk proposal *before* it's proposed and provide feedback  and suggestions for things to change to make it more appealing to review committees. It sounds like all of these are proposed already, so there's not much we can do about that.

It looks like none of these conferences have announced talk acceptances/declines yet. The target dates each one has published for notifying potential speakers:

  • Open Networking Summit EU: July 5th
  • ONF Connect: June 21st (ß they appear to be running late)
  • Open Infrastructure Summit: mid-July; the CFP closes tomorrow (July 2nd)

So the team should hopefully be hearing something back from all of these events in the next couple of weeks. If any of these talks are selected, please let us know. The marketing team will help to promote the talks.

Subject: CodiLime's talk proposals

Hi Vicky,
I'm writing to you with a little update on CodiLime's activity as a TF contributor and ambassador. We've recently increased our efforts to promote TF in the community and decided to send proposals to several conferences. Some of the proposals were worked out as joint talks with Juniper's representatives.

These are:
1) ONS (Belgium)
a) "Integration of Tungsten Fabric with OpenStack" - Krzysztof Kajkowski (CodiLime) & Sukhdev Kapur (Juniper Networks)
b) "Seamless transition to CNFs with Tungsten Fabric" - Jaroslaw Łukow & Magdalena Zaremba (both CodiLime)
2) ONF Connect (Santa Clara, US)
"One size does not fit all – Tungsten Fabric as an enabler of intent-based security in diverse multicloud architectures" - Adam Kułagowski (CodiLime) & Sanju Abraham (Juniper Networks)
3) Open Infrastructure Summit (Shanghai)
"Integration of Tungsten Fabric with OpenStack" - Krzysztof Kajkowski (CodiLime) & Sukhdev Kapur (Juniper Networks)

We're still waiting for the feedback. Do you have any ways to promote these proposals to increase the chance of getting these talks?

Best regards,
Marta

 Hi, Lisa.

Because these meetings don’t automatically appear in G Cal, can you add them to the community calendar?

Also, if you'd like me to share the TF community Zoom account with you, I would be happy to do that as well.  And of course I am always willing to help with the meeting setup as well.

Best,
Casey

Ok, thanks Vicky!

The question Intel legal is asking is if I can use the TF logo in the document I am about to release. I’d like to keep the TF logo but I need a confirmation from someone that it is ok. If I don’t hear from anybody by the end of the day today I will remove it. No big deal, the content of the document is more important. But if someone can confirm even better.

Thanks!

That wouldn't be in the CLA. CLAs only say "I have the right to contribute my work to the project." What you probably want is trademark usage guide.

This is the one for all of LF trademarks: https://www.linuxfoundation.org/trademark-usage/

And here's the list of LF trademarks: https://www.linuxfoundation.org/trademark-list/

TF isn't currently on it, but I don't know whether that means it's not their trademark or they just haven't updated the list.

This is a question for the Marketing team, included here.

Thank you so much!

Intel legal wanted to make sure Intel has permission to use the TF logo before i release the document to the public. I was really hoping this was covered in the CCLA but that does not seem to be the case.

If you know where this permission lives please share the document with me. Otherwise I still just remove the TF logo and share the document without it.

Regards,

Joseph

Hi Vicky and Randy

Sorry if I am asking a question that has been discussed a lot, but where can I see a copy of the CCLA?

This is needed for the legal review of the performance analysis document.

Thanks

Joseph

Ok, thanks Vicky!

The question Intel legal is asking is if I can use the TF logo in the document I am about to release. I’d like to keep the TF logo but I need a confirmation from someone that it is ok. If I don’t hear from anybody by the end of the day today I will remove it. No big deal, the content of the document is more important. But if someone can confirm even better.

Thanks!

Joseph

Tungsten Fabric is setup under LF Projects. The charter has a link to the trademark usage:

If we need to approve an exception, just let us know.

Thanks,
